Ethanol Summit 1

A seção matinal de hoje, 6 de junho/2011 teve um painel muito interessante com a presença de quatro representantes de empresas petrolíferas,Mark Gainsborough (Shell), Phillipe Boisseau (Total), Phil New (BP)e Miguel Rosseto (Petrobras) e mais Vinod Khosla (Khosla Ventures).
Todos os quatro representantes de empresas petrolíferas enfatizaram a importância dos biocombustíveis no futuro dos negócios em energia, mas foi Vinod Khosla que roubou a cena afirmando que as empresas das quais ele participa (Amyris, Koskata, dentre outras) investem mais em pesquisa em biocombustíveis do que as petroleiras e que em 10 anos a conversão de biomassas em hidrocarbonetos será mais importante que em etanol.

The morning section today, 6th June/2011, had a very interesting panel with four representatives from the oil industry Mark Gainsborough (Shell), Phillipe Boisseau (Total), Phil New (BP)e Miguel Rosseto (Petrobras) plus Vinod Khosla (Khosla Ventures).
All four oil company representatives emphasised the importance of biofuels in the future of energy companies, but it was Vinod Khosla who called attention making a point that his companies (Amyris, Koskata, among others) invest more on biofuels than the oil companies and that in 10 years from today biomass conversion to hydrocanbons will be more important than to ethanol.
